The name

This county was built on gold — and on the people who stayed.

Gold Country was not just a rush. It was a settlement. A community. A place people chose to make their own. Built On Gold Foundation honors that founding spirit and calls it forward into practical care for this generation and the next.

Our posture

Local, relational, practical, and trustworthy.

We believe giving should feel local and human — not distant or performative. We care about real people, real needs, and real acts of stewardship that strengthen this community over time.

The ranch

Where the work comes to life in person.

Built On Gold Foundation hosts community events, donor gatherings, and the Coming Home Campaign at the ranch — a place where generosity gets personal and community gets real.

Meet Our Founder

Built On Gold Foundation was founded by Tasha Locks, a third-generation Nevada County resident whose family has called this community home for five generations. After spending nearly twenty years helping build stronger communities across the country, Tasha knew it was time to bring everything she’d learned home.

Today, through both donating financially through her real estate business and providing an estimated $100k of in-kind through consultation and development of the Built On Gold Foundation, she’s committed to investing in the long-term strength and future of Nevada County.
